Mees G.F. (1964) Twee exemplaren van de uitgestorven Glansspreeuw Aplonis corvina (Kittlitz) in het Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie te Leiden. ARDEA 52 (3-4): 190-193
Recent literature mentions the existence in collections of only two specimens of the extinct starling Aplonis corvina (Kittlitz), both in the Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences, Leningrad. The author found in the collection of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden, two additional specimens: an adult male and a juvenile female (Plate V). Moreover, according to information received from Prof. A. 1. Ivanov, there are in Leningrad not two, but three specimens: one adult bird, one immature bird showing traces of the juvenile plumage, and one in juvenile plumage. This makes a total of five specimens, all syntypes of the species, collected in December 1827 by F. H. von Kittlitz in the forests of Kusaie (or Ualan), Carolines.
