Voous K.H. (1968) Geographical variation in the Cayenne Tern. ARDEA 56 (1-2): 184-187
A series of Sterna sandvicensis eurygnatha collected in breeding plumage in December 1965 on the coast of Chubut, Argentina, differs from South Caribbean breeding birds by large dimensions, and particularly very long, yellow bill. The possibility of these birds representing a distinct southern South American breeding population is discussed.
