Stenhouse I.J. (2003) Egg loss in Sabine's Gull Larus sabini as a result of interaction with Lesser Snow Geese Anser caerulescens. ARDEA 91 (1): 125-126 |
At East Bay, Southampton Island, Nunavut, Canada, Lesser Snow Geese Anser caerulescens families move through areas favoured by nesting Sabine's Gulls Larus sabini. An interaction between these species that resulted in the loss of part of a Sabine's Gull clutch is described. The loss of eggs in any year, especially a low predation year, may have a heavy impact on the lifetime reproductive success of Sabine's Gulls |
